Diagnosis/Treatment
Most women who have breast cancer today are diagnosed with Stage 0, I, or II breast cancer. Many of these women will live a long life. In recent years, there's been an explosion of life-saving treatment advances against breast cancer, bringing new hope and excitement. Instead of only one or two options, today there is an overwhelming menu of treatment choices that fight the complex mix of cells in each individual cancer.
Since there is no “standard” approach to treating cancer, each person’s unique situation is taken into consideration when evaluating treatment options. Factors that may influence the type of treatment recommended include the specific characteristics of your cancer, the condition of your overall state of health and what the actual goal of the treatment is—to relieve the symptoms, cure your cancer or keep it from spreading.
